Getting to Portland - Directions from the Airport

The Portland International Airport (PDX) is located approximately 35 minutes from the Oregon Convention Center and about 30 from the Portland DoubleTree Hotel by public transit or 15 minutes via cab.

We recommend taking public transit because it’s cheap ($2.50 fare) and super easy to use. This first fare is on you, but once you pick up your transit pass at Registration, you’ll ride free the rest of the week.

To get from the airport to the hotel, simply walk out of the airport from the baggage claim level, take a right, and follow the signs to the MAX Red Line (to City Center). This is about a 45 second walk from the main exit doors. Be sure to grab your ticket from the kiosk (which takes both card and cash) before boarding.

The Oregon Convention Center stop is located at the Convention Center MAX Station (Stop ID: 8376).

The Red Line (to City Center) runs 4:58am-11:49pm weekdays and 5:04am-11:49pm Saturday and Sunday.

Tri-Met Public Transit

Portland is served by Tri-Met, which covers Portland in a network of trains, streetcars, busses, and other transit options and makes getting around easy! The easiest, and cheapest way to get from the airport to the downtown or the convention center is taking MAX.

TriMet provides bus, light rail and commuter rail service in the Portland metro area. All attendees may pre-order a free 5-Day Transit Pass to use for the duration of DrupalCon.

Parking at the OCC

In addition to the ample street and bus parking in the surrounding area, the Oregon Convention Center provides on-site parking in its clean and secure underground parking garage. 800 spaces are available on the garage's two levels. The maximum daily rate to park is $9.00.

You can get more information on availability and current pricing at the Oregon Convention Center website.

Visa Information

For information on visas, please visit the US State Department's website here.

The Drupal Association is happy to issue an official letter of invitation to those attendees requesting one to obtain a visa for travel. We urge everyone that requires a Visa to travel to apply for the Visa as early as possible. Please note you must successfully complete DrupalCon registration prior to applying. Visiting the states and need a data plan for the conference?

If you're visiting from outside the states and need a phone number, minutes, and a data plan, we recommend picking up a prepaid SIM card at T-Mobile on your way from the airport. You can pay as little as $2 or $3 per day for unlimited text, talk, and data without a contract. It's one quick stop on the MAX from the Portland Airport, and they're pretty quick about getting you in and out. We've done SIM swap outs before, and this is by far the most simple and straightforward. Directions to this store from the Airport (via MAX).
