Content Personalization in Drupal
How does Netflix make suggestions about what I might like?
How do ecommerce sites build blocks that say, people who viewed this also viewed this?
How come the featured articles on my favorite news sites are based on my preferences without me telling them?
A lot of effort and money is going into build these features because they are really effective.
In this session I will present an overview of why content personalization and content recommendations are important and demo the contributed modules that will let you create experiences like this.
It will include:
- How to add user segments to users.
- User tracking of anonymous and logged in users.
- Advanced user scoring of events in Drupal.
- User segmentation based on website behavior.
- Content personalization based on user segments.
- Content recommendations based on behaviors.
The second half of the presentation will include a demo and technical walkthrough of drupal.org/project/wem. We will show the current state of the module, discuss how to extend it, and how to use it to achieve simple and effective content personalization.

Marketplace had a really interesting article on a new company, called Thirst. They are creating a new online newspaper that is completely focused on content personalized to each user. http://www.marketplace.org/topics/tech/thirst-ceo-creating-future-online...
This is the sort of thing that amazes me. This seems so easy with Drupal.

This is becoming a pretty common ask from enterprises evaluating Drupal. Very excited to see this session.
