Advanced Article Assembly: Adventures in atomic asset administration

Content assets may include article text, photos, videos, graph data, sports scores, or even references to other articles. When dealing with enterprise clients, especially (but not limited to) those in mass media, content is rarely created solely in the content management system. More often than not, integration with upstream asset management systems (AMSes) is necessary.

When content is amassed from a variety of external sources, content types and custom fields won't be enough. Entities that hold references to external content as well as ingesting assets from upstream or 3rd-party publishing systems becomes the new norm.

This session will discuss:
* How to assemble content elements from disparate sources, but still keep your sanity.
* What tools (modules, APIs) already exist to make this easier.
* How to approach story stitching and treating external elements (like videos hosted on CDNs) as first-class Drupal entities.
* Real world examples, and how decisions were made.
