Applying UX Processes to get Large Project Quality on a Small Budget
When a small project needs to be completed quickly and cheaply but still provide great results, a lot of the “ideal” UX processes may not be feasible. However, UX cannot be ignored for these smaller projects. In this discussion I will explain how to apply simple UX methods during development of small projects that bring value without hurting the project budget or delaying the schedule. Discussion will cover user testing, metrics, wireframing, design and prototypes, and the ways to make these possible even during small projects.
It’s well known that UX is critical in any project, and clients always demand the best possible experience for their end users. The difficult part for the developer is managing expectations for small projects, applying the best concepts and still being able to deliver the project on time and on budget. Along with discussing processes, I will pull examples from my own experience, explaining successful techniques for accelerating the understanding process for the team and client and making sure everybody is aligned with the goals and objectives of the project before development even begins. Once everyone is on board and understands the planned tactics and outcomes, the development team will be able to more effectively create a product that not only meets budget and timeline, but exceeds UX expectations.
