Backend of Frontend Development

Sass and Compass have changed the way that we have made CSS, and the tools that they provide are growing and becoming increasingly important. As these tools grow, the need to know how to code with them in increasingly advanced ways will continue.

This session will dive into backend Sass code, and how to properly use mixins and functions to do some advanced Compass extensions. We will delve into how to write your own Compass extension to create a base theme, or other functionality. If given time, there will also be an introduction in including ruby code to your Compass extension.

The approaches in this session were a result of development on aurora, breakpoint, respond-to and compass-normalize compass extensions.
