Coding beyond your problem and looking toward a solution for the Drupal community

This session will show contributions to the Drupal community made by the speaker and the Meedan engineering team as a whole. Most of those contributions came along with the need to solve some problem on Meedan applications, focused mainly on cross-language content and content production. The session will show problems and needs faced by Meedan on developing such applications and how they were solved. Most solutions are generic enough to solve related problems on other applications and other users, and that's why those solutions are released as open source. The idea that the speaker follows and aims to tell here is to think code beyond the immediate problem that needs to be solved. Think the problem in a more general way, think that other users might be facing the same problem, try to find out which other problems can be related to yours, and how your solution could solve - or be a base to solve - those problems as well. By releasing your code, you build a stronger community and a stronger Drupal. Some of the examples that will be shown are two modules, one for bookmarklet (Drupal 7) and another for mail digests (Drupal 6), besides patches and new features for existing modules. The session will also show the ways from the problems until the solutions.
