As user experience professionals, we are constantly in tune with what our users feel and what they need to meet their goals. Why should we not have the same perspective about what our own team and organization needs? Ultimately what prevents teams from being balanced and maximally happy is a lack of empathy, trust and transparency. Culture must be designed like you design your product’s user experience.

In this presentation, I will talk about some of the philosophies of LeanUX and Balanced Teams, and why user experience designers should facilitate collaboration to foster balance in their organizations.

My path to building organizational culture has been expressed through coffee. I will explain the motivation and results of constructing a pour over coffee bar at my office, and why this has been one of my favorite and most interesting UX challenges.
