Drupal in the Mainstream: Making Passion Scale

In the last few years, Drupal has exploded in popularity from a niche platform to the software that powers some of the biggest and most important websites in the world. Much of its success to date has been driven by the passion of its community. Drupal’s increasing adoption by the mainstream raises both challenges and opportunities.

In this session, we’ll explore the where Drupal has been, where it is now, and where it might be going in the future. Along the way, we’ll also take a look at why different audiences choose to use Drupal, and some of the reasons it’s been successful so far, both from a business and an open source community perspective.

We'll address some thorny questions such as community governance, the evolving role of the business ecosystem in the direction of the project, and the challenges faced by both internal and external forces.

This is a great session for anyone who is interested in both the community and business side of Drupal, as well as those who find themselves in the position of having to communicate the advantages of Drupal as a solution.
