Making sense of policy: A case study of Stanford University's research policy website

Throughout much of 2012, Four Kitchens in Austin and Thinkso in NYC collaborated on a complete redesign of the website for the Office of the Dean of Research at Stanford University, one of the leading sponsors of scientific and academic research in the world. A significant portion of our efforts were focused on the Research Policy Handbook, a 150,000-word collection of rules, regulations and memoranda spread across hundreds of static pages.

We'll present a detailed case study of our efforts to rethink and modernize this massive collection of content to make it more understandable to university faculty and staff, more usable for website visitors and more manageable for content administrators.

Anyone interested in an in-depth look at the content strategy, design/UX and technology implementation in Drupal of large-scale collections of information should attend this session.
