Want to know what it takes to get a DrupalCon in your city? This session will talk about how to build your local community from organising local monthly meetups, running drupal camps, to coordinating with the broader region and eventually culminating in a DrupalCon.

We’ll use the history of the Sydney community in this context and explore some points of success and failures for the current state of our community.

• Structure of local meetups
• How to find speakers
• Evolving the approach as the community grows
• How to promote and grow the community
• How to handle sponsors
• Keeping costs low for DrupalCamps
• Co-ordinating volunteers
• Communicating with the DA
• "Organising" a DrupalCon from a local volunteer’s point of view
• … and more!

We will also be looking to a lot of Q&A time and will be encouraging others involved in putting on these events to join us. There will also be a BoF scheduled to discuss other events in the region and how to get involved with next DrupalCon!
