Tools, Tips and Techniques for Private Cloud Deployments

Whether you’re an independent developer or development manager in a large company, “the cloud” is on everyone’s mind. But just because it’s in the cloud, doesn’t mean development and deployment is effortless. Private cloud presents infrastructure and development challenges in a new way.

When most of us think "cloud" we're actually talking about consuming computing resources hosted on public infrastructure providers like Amazon, Rackspace, HP or Dell. Some of us may equate "cloud" with a Public PaaS provider like Heroku, EngineYard or even Cloudfoundry.com. But when it comes to Corporate Enterprises deploying on the cloud - the reality is that that 'cloud' infrastructure is self-hosted on internal resources or privately hosted in a segregated secure space on a 3rd party Private Hosting provider.

In this presentation, ActiveState’s Diane Mueller & Tara Gibbs will share best practices in building and deploying a Drupal-centric Private Cloud environments for a range of Drupal applications from simple Drupal site to large-scale, globalized multiple site deployments of Drupal that share resources and content that rely on Private Enterprise Cloud infrastructure.

Based on ActiveState’s own Drupal experiences and insights gained from our clients, they will discuss the challenges faced and lessons learned in building an infrastructure to deploy & secure Drupal to the cloud with Private PaaS.
