Using Drupal at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory

The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is a United States Department of Energy (DOE) Lab located in Eastern Washington. Our research strengthens the U.S. foundation for innovation, and we help find solutions for not only DOE, but for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the National Nuclear Security Administration, other government agencies, universities and industry. Through these unique clients and their situations, we are constantly challenged to bring new tools and capabilities to the table, to help them meet their needs. Recently, Drupal has aided in many of those solutions.

Join Mike Madison, a Web Application Designer from PNNL, as he explores his team’s uses for Drupal. Specifically, he will focus on:
1. Managing Enterprise Systems (without the enterprise)
2. Social Media Harvesting
3. Supporting Enhanced Visualization Tools
4. Supporting a Human Resources infrastructure with Drupal.

This talk will include hands on demonstrations and some technical jargon, but will be at the beginner to intermediate level. Individuals should attend if they have an interest in the U.S. Government’s use of Drupal, how to manage a large collection of Drupal projects without a large staff, how to capture web content and harvest it into a Drupal instance, and the integration of external visualization tools with content managed by Drupal. There will also be a focus on a recently developed human resources tool that facilitates personal feedback, reviews for other staff, and a manager’s dashboard.
