Jorie Porter is currently working as the clearinghouse librarian for the Start2Farm.gov project at the USDA's National Agricultural Library. Her previous position was librarian for the agriculture department at Louisiana State University. There, in addition to assisting students, faculty, and researchers, she worked on aggregating materials and resources after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Ms. Porter has experience working with researchers, students, and the public as a public services and reference librarian. She has also developed curriculum and conducted classes and training on information literacy and the use of information tools. She is the co-editor of a book about best practices in corporate libraries. In her current position she manages the database driven website, Start2Farm.gov.
My interests include improving access to public information, the digital divide, cloud computing, content management, knowledge management, and information seeking behavior.
