Unmesh is a passionate professional with 24 years of experience in the technology, healthcare, entrepreneurship and non-profit sectors. For several years, he reflected on the wisdom, value, and practical impact of his own involvement in technology and management to society, wondering, “what if we use the same skills to improve the economics of global poverty?” In 2010 he left the path of a successful corporate career and started a new journey as the president of ICA, a 43-year-old international development organization based in Silicon Valley. Unmesh has travelled extensively to India on behalf of ICA and has supported many NGOs. He is a main technical advisor to Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA), a largest women’s cooperative (1.4 Million) in the world, in their quest for digitization and other IT platforms. Through this journey in partnership with leading social organizations in developing countries, he is now working to address the big challenges facing disconnected people, such as the availability of meaningful data and communication within a community. Ektta is the outcome so far.
