Reloading Rules UX with fluxkraft!
The Rules module gives superpowers to site-builders by enabling them to define conditionally executed actions based on any occurring event. However, with its current user interface common tasks are too hard to accomplish and using more sophisticated features requires an in-depth understanding of how the module works.
Fortunately, the fluxkraft project is about to whip the Rules UI into shape as it will simplify common tasks and improve how sophisticated features are presented. fluxkraft will be a Drupal based tool for automating your web-based workflows and will integrate with popular services like twitter and facebook out of the box. Similar to ifttt.com - but as a self-hosted web tool based upon Rules and Drupal, and designed as an extensible and open plattform.
In this session, we'll have a closer look at the reloaded Rules UI. We'll learn about its goals, identified problems, explore how others approached similar issues and see how the reloaded Rules UI intends to solve them.
Outline:
- Introduction
- Goals of the new UI
- UX issues solved (or not..)
- Sneak-peek on the latest fluxkraft development release and the new Rules UI
- A short look ahead to Drupal 8 and what it means for Rules and its UI
fluxkraft is a project developed by drunomics and funded by netidee. More information about fluxkraft can be found here.

That sounds damn cool! I use ifttt.com to do things like automatically download Flickr photos where I'm tagged, or that I've favorited. I can imagine a Views / Rules based systems being very helpful in crafting Drupal site behaviours in a way that non-technical people can grasp and master.
