Building awesome communities with Drupal Commons

Drupal Commons allows anyone to build a powerful community site with all the power and flexibility of Drupal, and all the social and collaborative tools of Ning, SharePoint, or Google Groups. In this session we will demonstrate some of the most popular built-in features of Drupal Commons as well as some unique customizations and configurations that serve specific communities and organizational needs. Then we will look into the future of Drupal Commons (a free distro, maintained by Acquia), which is in beta for Drupal 7.

NOTE: This session would be appropriate for the Site Building or Gov/Org/Edu tracks.

Ruby is a great speaker and this looks like a good topic. Making clear the ways Drupal Commons can be an effective alternative to corporate/non-FLOSS software is a great approach. I hope to see this session at Drupalcon!
