Fostering social inclusion and civic empowerment with VoIP Drupal

Come learn about VoIP Drupal (http://voipdrupal.org/), a versatile open source communication toolkit that adds the power of voice and Internet-telephony to Drupal web sites. It can be used to build hybrid applications that combine regular touchtone phones, the Web, SMS, and other channels in a variety of ways, facilitating community outreach and providing an online presence even to those who are technically challenged, or who do not have regular access to computers.

VoIP Drupal comes with an extensive collection of ready-made modules that provide voicemail, click-to-call, phone recording, audio blogging, dialplan scripting and other high-level functionality, dramatically simplifying application development. For the past couple of years, the framework has been used in a wide variety of initiatives that foster social inclusion, civic participation and community empowerment (http://bit.ly/Xj6LLs).

In this session, we will
* Introduce VoIP Drupal, it’s functionality, and basic components
* Demonstrate use cases and the latest features of VoIP Drupal in action
* Get you started with a rundown of how to implement and extend VoIP Drupal
* Present the VoIP Drupal roadmap and how to get involved

Join us! VoIP Drupal will change the way you interact with Drupal, your phone and the web!

I think this is a really cool initiative and a great application of Drupal. I'd love to see it accepted.

I am really looking for this -- If Drupal wants to get a better presence in developing market and for technology for underprivileged -- this is perhaps most important module for me! I am surprised that this is not yet accepted.
