Sharpening the Axe

A wise man once said "If I had 8 hours to chop down a tree, I'd spend 6 sharpening my axe." Preparation and planning are integral to successful design. Taking the time to define the problem, frame out potential solutions and stoking your creative fire will give you the edge needed to create solid and successful designs.

Join me on this enlightening journey of discovery and planning! Along the way we will wrestle with the following design topics:

  • Discovery: Asking the who, what and why's.
  • Sketching: Why you do not want to skip this step.
  • Wireframing: Laying out the foundation for your design.
  • Mockups: Bringing it all together with color, texture and more.
  • Bonus Topic: Responsive HTML prototyping.

Who is this session for:

  • Freelance designers and front-end devs.
  • Shop designers and front-end devs that work on a team.
  • Project Managers and other team members involved in the discovery phase.

+1 Dustin! Looking forward to this session.

This looks like a really interesting topic. I am not a designer but sometimes I like to go to designer sessions to get a feel for how things are evolving on their side of things. I think session is intriguing because Dustin is addressing discovery all the way through mockups/prototyping.

Looks great. Measure twice, cut once!
